ABOUT THE WORK

Anthony’s ceramic sculpture is sensual and serene in form and highly tactile. The pieces are tabletop size to encourage touching, turning, and viewing from different angles.

 

All pieces are made on the potter’s wheel. The surface treatment is unglazed similar to traditional Southwestern Native American and ancient pottery. Unglazed pottery accentuates the distinctive and natural qualities of earthenware clay. Pieces are hand-burnished, and then placed in a small, sustainable wood-burning kiln. All wood is gathered from the forest floor. This low-firing technique maximizes the clay’s smooth and sensuous qualities.
